Marc Darmon holds degrees from Ecole Polytechnique and Telecom ParisTech.

He began his career in 1988 with Alcatel and worked as a research engineer, engineering project manager and product line manager before being appointed to head the company's Networks department. In 1998 he joined the Thales Group as Director of the Infrastructure Networks Department of Thales Communications. In 2000, he was appointed Managing Director of the Networks business unit of Thales Communications. In 2002, he became Vice President, Strategy & Advanced Systems at Thales Communications,

From 2004 to 2006, he headed the Joint Systems business, combining Thales's communication networks and broadcasting systems activities with its command systems, intelligence and security systems operations. From 2006 to 2008, Marc Darmon was Managing Director of Thales Communications. In 2009, he was appointed Thales Senior Vice President, Naval Division and in 2010, he became Thales Senior Vice President, Audit & Internal Control.

In September 2012, Marc Darmon was appointed Senior Vice President, Defence and Security C4I Systems, becoming a member of the Executive Committee of Thales in this capacity. Since 2013, he is Executive Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of Thales, in charge of Secure Communications and Information Systems.

Marc Darmon was elected in September 2014 President of the Conseil des Industries de la Confiance et de la Sécurité (CICS).
